Xprodox-DT contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 100mg, a broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic formulated as a dispersible tablet (DT) for ease of administration, especially in children and patients with swallowing difficulties. It works by disrupting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately killing the bacteria and stopping the spread of infection. This medicine is highly effective in treating a wide range of bacterial infections, including those affecting the lungs (such as pneumonia and bronchitis), ears (like otitis media), urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, abdomen, bones and joints, and bloodstream. It can also be prescribed in more severe conditions such as meningitis and certain heart-related infections. Xprodox-DT usually starts working within a few days of starting the course, helping to relieve symptoms such as fever, pain, inflammation, and fatigue associated with bacterial infections. However, it is essential to complete the full course of antibiotics as prescribed, even if the patient feels better early. Stopping the medication too soon can lead to relapse or antibiotic resistance.
