Xprodox Dry Syrup contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50mg, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria by interfering with their cell wall formation, which is essential for their survival. Xprodox is effective against infections of the respiratory tract such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and tonsillitis, as well as ear infections like otitis media. It is also useful in treating urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin and soft tissue infections, and abdominal infections. This dry syrup formulation is especially designed for pediatric use, making it easy to administer to children. It is generally well-tolerated and starts working within a few days of starting the treatment. However, it is crucial to complete the full course of the antibiotic as prescribed, even if the child starts feeling better. Discontinuing the medicine early may lead to a recurrence of the infection or development of antibiotic resistance, making future infections harder to treat.
