WASSross-F is a combination medication that contains Fenofibrate and Rosuvastatin, two potent lipid-lowering agents used primarily to manage dyslipidemia and hypercholesterolemia. This combination therapy is particularly effective for patients with mixed dyslipidemia—those who have both elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Rosuvastatin is a statin that works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This leads to a significant reduction in LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and a moderate increase in HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). Fenofibrate belongs to the fibrate class of medications and works by activating PPAR-α (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha), which increases the oxidation of fatty acids and reduces triglyceride levels in the blood. It is especially effective at lowering VLDL (very low-density lipoprotein) and raising HDL cholesterol levels. Together, WASSross-F offers a synergistic effect: while rosuvastatin primarily reduces LDL cholesterol, fenofibrate effectively lowers triglycerides and boosts HDL, making it ideal for patients with combined lipid disorders, metabolic syndrome, or type 2 diabetes with lipid imbalance. This medication should be taken once daily as prescribed, usually with or after meals. Regular monitoring of liver function, kidney function, and lipid levels is recommended. Common side effects may include muscle pain, headache, abdominal discomfort, or elevated liver enzymes. It should be used cautiously in patients with liver, kidney, or gallbladder disorders and avoided during pregnancy.
