VEFOstat-80
Description_Effects
VEFOstat-80 contains Febuxostat 80 mg, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used primarily for the long-term treatment and prevention of gout, a type of arthritis caused by elevated levels of uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia). When uric acid builds up in excess, it can lead to the formation of sharp urate crystals in joints and tissues, triggering intense pain, inflammation, swelling, and redness — especially in the feet and big toe. Febuxostat works by blocking the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which plays a crucial role in the production of uric acid. By lowering uric acid levels, VEFOstat-80 helps prevent the formation of crystals and gradually dissolves existing deposits, thereby reducing the frequency and severity of gout attacks. It also helps protect the kidneys from damage due to uric acid overload, which can lead to kidney stones or impaired renal function. This medicine is generally well-tolerated but must be used regularly and for an extended duration as prescribed to maintain effective uric acid control. It is not meant for treating sudden gout flare-ups but for long-term management. Patients are advised to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and limit intake of high-purine foods like red meat and seafood during treatment. Regular blood tests may be needed to monitor uric acid levels and liver function.
