VASIzitel-H is a combination medicine that contains Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, used primarily for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). This combination provides a dual mechanism to control blood pressure effectively, especially in patients who do not achieve desired results with single-drug therapy. Telmisartan belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a chemical in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow. By blocking this chemical, Telmisartan helps to relax and widen the blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and lowering overall blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill). It works by helping the body eliminate excess salt and water through urine. This reduces the volume of fluid in the blood vessels, leading to a further reduction in blood pressure. Together, these medicines offer a complementary effect: Telmisartan relaxes the blood vessels, while Hydrochlorothiazide reduces fluid volume, leading to more effective blood pressure control.
