Tiaxgran
Description_Effects
Tiaxgran contains Granisetron, which is a potent antiemetic used primarily to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and postoperative recovery. Granisetron belongs to a class of medications known as 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It works by selectively blocking serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract. During chemotherapy or surgery, serotonin is released in the gut, where it activates these receptors and triggers the vomiting reflex. By inhibiting these signals, Granisetron effectively prevents and controls nausea and vomiting. Tiaxgran is typically administered before chemotherapy or surgery, and it may also be given afterward if symptoms persist. It provides a long duration of action, making it highly effective for delayed nausea that occurs several hours or even days after treatment. This medicine is well tolerated in most patients, with common side effects including headache, constipation, and dizziness. It is considered safe for both adults and children under proper medical supervision. Regular monitoring is advised, especially in patients with heart conditions, as 5-HT3 blockers can affect heart rhythm in rare cases.
