Sagatar-S
Description_Effects
Sagatar-S is an oral suspension that combines Magaldrate (400 mg) and Simethicone (20 mg) per 5 ml. It is used to relieve symptoms caused by excessive stomach acid and gas, such as heartburn, indigestion, bloating, and abdominal discomfort. This formulation is commonly recommended for patients suffering from conditions like gastritis, acid reflux, and flatulence. Magaldrate is an antacid that neutralizes excess gastric acid in the stomach. It provides quick relief from acidity and heartburn by increasing the pH level in the stomach. It forms a protective layer over the stomach lining, reducing irritation caused by acid and helping to prevent ulcers or further damage. Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent that works by breaking up gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines. This helps reduce bloating, abdominal pressure, and discomfort caused by gas accumulation. It does not reduce gas production but makes it easier to eliminate gas from the digestive system. Sagatar-S is generally taken after meals and at bedtime or as directed by a physician. The suspension should be well-shaken before use. It is safe for short-term use, but prolonged use should be under medical supervision. Mild side effects may include constipation or a chalky taste.
