SILOMESIN-8
Description_Effects
SILOMESIN-8 contains Silodosin 8 mg, which is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker used primarily to treat the symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)—a common condition in older men where the prostate gland becomes enlarged, causing difficulty with urination. Silodosin works by selectively blocking alpha-1 receptors found in the smooth muscles of the prostate and the bladder neck. By inhibiting these receptors, it causes the muscles around the bladder outlet and the prostate to relax. This relaxation helps to relieve urinary obstruction and allows urine to flow more easily through the urethra, reducing symptoms such as weak stream, hesitancy, incomplete emptying, straining, and increased frequency or urgency of urination. One of the key benefits of Silodosin is its high selectivity for the alpha-1A subtype receptors predominantly found in the prostate. This selectivity contributes to fewer cardiovascular side effects like low blood pressure, which may occur with less selective alpha blockers. It is especially helpful for patients who need symptomatic relief from BPH without significant effects on blood pressure. SILOMESIN-8 is typically well-tolerated, and most patients begin to notice improvement in their urinary symptoms within a few days of starting treatment. However, it should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, ideally at the same time each day. Missing doses or discontinuing the medication without medical advice may lead to the return of symptoms. Some individuals may experience side effects, the most common being reduced or absent ejaculation (retrograde ejaculation), dizziness, or light-headedness, especially when standing up quickly. These effects are generally mild and tend to subside with continued use or dose adjustment. It is important to inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking, especially medications for high blood pressure or erectile dysfunction, as combining them may increase the risk of side effects. SILOMESIN-8 is not intended for use in women or children. Men undergoing cataract surgery should inform their ophthalmologist before the procedure, as Silodosin may affect pupil dilation (Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome - IFIS).
