Oftarx-SM Suspension is a combination medicine used primarily to treat gastrointestinal infections, especially in children. It contains three active ingredients: Ofloxacin, Metronidazole, and Simethicone. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that effectively targets and kills a wide range of harmful bacteria by inhibiting their DNA replication. Metronidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent that works against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, making it particularly effective in treating mixed infections like amoebic dysentery and giardiasis. Simethicone, on the other hand, is an anti-foaming agent that helps relieve bloating and gas by breaking up gas bubbles in the gut. This combination is especially helpful in cases of infectious diarrhea, dysentery, abdominal pain, and bloating caused by bacterial or parasitic infections. Oftarx-SM not only targets the root infection but also relieves associated gastrointestinal discomfort, helping children recover faster and feel better.
