OSANtan-40H
Description_Effects
OSANtan-40H is a prescription medication that combines Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, used in the management of high blood pressure (hypertension). This fixed-dose combination is prescribed when blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with either agent alone. Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that helps lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily. It blocks the action of a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten, thereby reducing resistance and lowering pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (commonly known as a "water pill") that works by removing excess salt and water from the body through the urine. This helps to reduce blood volume and thus lowers blood pressure. The combination of these two drugs provides a more potent effect in controlling blood pressure and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems. OSANtan-40H is usually taken once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, increased urination, or mild electrolyte imbalance. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is advised during treatment.
