OSANtan-20H is a combination medication that contains Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, used primarily for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). Olmesartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), which help relax blood vessels by blocking the action of a natural substance that causes them to tighten. This results in smoother blood flow and reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent the body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention and increased blood pressure. This combination is typically prescribed when one drug alone does not sufficiently control blood pressure. By working through different mechanisms, the two ingredients provide a more effective and sustained blood pressure reduction. Keeping blood pressure in the normal range reduces the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. OSANtan-20H should be taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food. Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, increased urination, or electrolyte imbalance. It is not recommended during pregnancy. Patients should avoid potassium supplements unless prescribed and should follow up regularly to monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels.
