MERUlard-SB-1.5
Description_Effects
MERUlard-SB-1.5 is a powerful combination antibiotic medicine containing Meropenem and Sulbactam, used to treat a wide range of severe bacterial infections. Meropenem belongs to a class of antibiotics known as carbapenems. It works by interfering with the bacterial cell wall synthesis, ultimately leading to the destruction of the bacteria. It is highly effective against various gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria. Sulbactam, on the other hand, is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It does not possess significant antibiotic activity on its own but plays a crucial supportive role in this combination. Many bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase, which can break down some antibiotics like Meropenem, rendering them ineffective. Sulbactam inhibits these enzymes, protecting Meropenem from degradation. As a result, the antibiotic remains active and effective against resistant strains of bacteria. This combination is typically prescribed for serious infections such as pneumonia, intra-abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, meningitis, and sepsis. MERUlard-SB-1.5 is administered via injection and is usually reserved for hospital use under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It is essential to complete the full course of therapy to ensure the infection is completely eradicated and to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
