MADRATOL-50 contains Metoprolol Tartrate 50 mg, a short-acting beta-1 selective adrenergic blocker primarily used to manage hypertension, angina (chest pain), arrhythmias, and for secondary prevention after a heart attack. It is also used in certain cases to manage symptoms of anxiety, migraines, and heart failure as advised by a healthcare provider. Metoprolol Tartrate works by selectively blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart. This action slows down the heart rate, reduces the force of contraction, and lowers the heart’s oxygen demand. As a result, the heart pumps blood more efficiently, reducing the strain on the cardiovascular system. This helps lower blood pressure, prevent chest pain, and stabilize irregular heart rhythms. Being a short-acting formulation, MADRATOL-50 is usually taken twice daily or as prescribed, depending on the condition being treated. It begins to act within 1–2 hours and is effective in quickly managing cardiovascular symptoms. Common side effects may include tiredness, dizziness, cold hands or feet, and low heart rate. It should not be stopped abruptly, as doing so may lead to rebound hypertension or worsening of angina or heart failure.
