MADRATOL-25 ER contains Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg in an extended-release formulation. It is a beta-blocker used primarily for the management of high blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain (angina), and to improve survival after a heart attack (myocardial infarction). It is also prescribed in certain cases of irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and heart failure. Metoprolol works by selectively blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart. This action reduces the heart rate, cardiac output, and the workload on the heart, ultimately lowering blood pressure and helping the heart function more efficiently. The extended-release formulation ensures a slow and consistent release of the medication throughout the day, offering 24-hour blood pressure control with once-daily dosing. MADRATOL-25 ER is generally well-tolerated when taken as prescribed. Common side effects may include fatigue, dizziness, slow heart rate, cold hands or feet, and upset stomach. It should be taken with food to improve absorption and reduce the risk of side effects. Patients should not stop taking it suddenly, as abrupt discontinuation can lead to worsening heart problems or elevated blood pressure.
