Description_Effects
LIZMECT-12 is a prescription medication containing Ivermectin 12mg, a well-known antiparasitic agent used to treat a variety of parasitic infections that affect the intestines, skin, and eyes. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as intestinal strongyloidiasis, onchocerciasis (also known as river blindness), scabies, and head lice. These infections are caused by different types of parasites, including roundworms and mites, which can enter the body through contaminated food, water, or contact with infected individuals. Ivermectin works by interfering with the nervous system and muscle function of parasites. It binds to specific chloride channels in the parasite’s nerve and muscle cells, causing an increase in the flow of chloride ions. This leads to paralysis and ultimately the death of the parasite. The medication is effective because it targets the parasite specifically without harming the human nervous system, as it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier in humans. LIZMECT-12 is typically taken as a single oral dose on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. The exact dosage and need for repeat treatment depend on the type and severity of the infection as well as the patient's weight and clinical condition. Some infections may require follow-up doses after a few days or weeks as prescribed by a healthcare provider. The medicine generally acts quickly, and patients often begin to feel relief within a few days of starting treatment. However, it is important to complete the full course, even if symptoms improve, to ensure that all the parasites are eliminated and to prevent them from becoming resistant to the medication. The tablet is usually well tolerated, but like any medicine, it may cause side effects in some individuals. These may include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, abdominal pain, or skin rashes. In rare cases, patients with a heavy parasite load, especially in conditions like onchocerciasis, may experience a reaction to the dying parasites, known as the Mazzotti reaction, which can cause fever, swelling, joint pain, and skin itching. These symptoms usually subside with time or supportive treatment. LIZMECT-12 should only be taken under medical supervision. Patients are advised to inform their doctor of any ongoing medications, liver conditions, or history of allergic reactions before starting treatment. Sticking to the prescribed dosage and guidelines is key to ensuring the effectiveness and safety of the therapy.
