Jepraban-20 contains Rivaroxaban 20 mg, an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to treat and prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)—a condition where harmful blood clots form in the deep veins, usually in the legs. These clots can cause pain, swelling, and if left untreated, may travel to the lungs and cause a potentially life-threatening condition known as pulmonary embolism (PE). Rivaroxaban, the active ingredient in Jepraban-20, works by inhibiting Factor Xa, a key enzyme involved in the blood clotting process. By blocking this enzyme, it helps prevent the formation of new clots and stops existing clots from getting larger. Jepraban-20 is commonly prescribed after surgeries such as hip or knee replacement, in individuals with a history of recurrent clots, or in patients with certain heart conditions like atrial fibrillation that increase the risk of clot formation. It is taken once daily with food, and regular use as prescribed significantly lowers the risk of serious complications. However, since it affects blood clotting, bleeding is a potential side effect, and it should be used under strict medical supervision.
