JEPrifa-200 contains Rifaximin 200 mg, a broad-spectrum, non-absorbable antibiotic used primarily to treat traveler’s diarrhea caused by the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli). This type of diarrhea commonly affects people traveling to regions with lower sanitation or food safety standards and is typically characterized by frequent loose stools, abdominal cramps, bloating, and discomfort. Rifaximin works by inhibiting bacterial RNA synthesis, which stops the growth of E. coli and helps clear the infection. Because it is minimally absorbed into the bloodstream, JEPrifa-200 acts directly in the gastrointestinal tract, making it effective and generally well-tolerated with minimal systemic side effects. JEPrifa-200 is usually taken for a short course (typically 3 days), and most patients experience significant symptom relief within the first couple of days. It is important to complete the full course even if symptoms improve early, to ensure complete eradication of the bacteria and prevent recurrence. This medicine is suitable only for non-invasive diarrhea (i.e., not accompanied by high fever or blood in the stool). In such cases, other treatments may be needed. JEPrifa-200 should be used under medical supervision, and patients are encouraged to stay hydrated and maintain proper hygiene while traveling to prevent reinfection.
