IFYCAROL-100 contains Itraconazole 100 mg, an antifungal medication that belongs to the triazole class. It is widely used to treat a variety of fungal infections affecting different parts of the body, including the skin, mouth, throat, nails, and vagina. Itraconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes weakened, causing the fungi to die and the infection to clear. This medicine is particularly effective against infections such as oral thrush, vaginal candidiasis, athlete's foot, ringworm, and onychomycosis (fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails). It is also prescribed for more severe systemic fungal infections when other treatments may not be effective. In addition to treating fungal infections, Itraconazole is sometimes used in managing seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff, where fungal overgrowth contributes to inflammation and flaking of the scalp. IFYCAROL-100 is generally well tolerated but should be taken exactly as prescribed to ensure maximum effectiveness and prevent resistance. It is important to complete the full course of therapy, even if symptoms improve earlier, to avoid recurrence of infection. Regular follow-up may be advised during prolonged use.
