HIStar-24
Description_Effects
HIStar-24 is a medication used to prevent and manage Ménière's disease, a chronic disorder of the inner ear characterized by episodes of vertigo (spinning sensation), tinnitus (ringing in the ears), hearing loss, and aural fullness (a feeling of pressure in the ear). The active ingredient, Betahistine, is a histamine analog that improves microcirculation in the inner ear, helping to regulate the pressure and fluid balance that contribute to the condition's symptoms. HIStar-24 works by enhancing blood flow in the inner ear's vestibular system and by blocking certain histamine receptors (H3), which leads to increased histamine turnover. This effect reduces the build-up of fluid in the inner ear’s labyrinth, thereby decreasing the frequency and severity of vertigo attacks. It can also help improve hearing and lessen the intensity of tinnitus over time. The 24 mg dosage is often prescribed for individuals with moderate to severe symptoms and is typically taken once or twice a day, depending on medical advice. While HIStar-24 is generally well tolerated, some people may experience mild side effects such as headache, nausea, or stomach discomfort. It is important to take the medication regularly as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to maintain long-term control over Ménière’s disease.
