FYTObra-80 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination used to prevent and treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It contains two active ingredients: Trimethoprim and Sulfamethoxazole, which work synergistically to block different steps in the bacterial folic acid synthesis pathway, essential for bacterial survival and multiplication. This combination is also known as co-trimoxazole. FYTObra-80 is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections (like traveler's diarrhoea and shigellosis), ear infections, and certain types of skin and soft tissue infections. It is also used in some cases to prevent infections in people with weakened immune systems, including those with HIV/AIDS or those undergoing chemotherapy. This medication provides quick symptom relief by halting bacterial growth and allowing the body’s immune system to clear the infection. It should be taken exactly as prescribed, usually with plenty of fluids, and for the full course even if symptoms improve earlier. Possible side effects include nausea, rash, loss of appetite, and in rare cases, more serious allergic reactions or blood disorders. It should not be used in people with sulfa allergy or certain kidney or liver problems without medical advice.
