DENPOZIN-L is a combination oral antidiabetic medication used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in adults whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy. It contains Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin, two medications that work together through distinct mechanisms to regulate blood glucose effectively. Dapagliflozin belongs to a class of medicines known as SGLT2 inhibitors. It helps lower blood sugar levels by preventing the kidneys from reabsorbing glucose back into the blood and instead promoting its excretion through urine. This not only reduces blood sugar but also contributes to weight loss and helps in lowering blood pressure in some cases. Linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones. These hormones help regulate blood glucose by increasing insulin release and decreasing the amount of glucose the liver produces, especially after meals. DENPOZIN-L is generally taken once daily, with or without food. It is well tolerated, but potential side effects include urinary tract infections, frequent urination, low blood sugar (especially if combined with other antidiabetics), and gastrointestinal discomfort. Regular blood sugar monitoring, along with lifestyle modifications such as proper diet and physical activity, is essential to achieve optimal diabetes control.
