CETOxine-OX is a pediatric dry syrup that contains Cefixime trihydrate 50mg and Ofloxacin 50mg. It is an effective combination antibiotic therapy used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections in children. Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by disrupting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, ultimately leading to the death of the bacteria. It is particularly useful in treating respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and middle ear infections. Ofloxacin, on the other hand, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication enzymes, thereby preventing the growth and multiplication of bacteria. When used together, Cefixime and Ofloxacin offer a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity, which makes this formulation highly effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as certain atypical pathogens.
