PENItra-200 contains Itraconazole 200 mg, a broad-spectrum antifungal medicine used to treat a variety of fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, throat, and internal organs. Itraconazole belongs to the triazole class of antifungals and acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a crucial component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption weakens and destroys the fungal cell, stopping its growth and ultimately clearing the infection. PENItra-200 is commonly prescribed for stubborn or resistant fungal infections, including dermatophytosis (ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch), onychomycosis (nail infections), oral and esophageal candidiasis, and systemic mycoses like histoplasmosis or aspergillosis. It may also be used as a prophylactic antifungal in immunocompromised individuals. This medication is taken orally, usually after food to improve absorption. The dosage and duration depend on the type and severity of the infection. It is crucial to complete the full course as prescribed to ensure complete eradication and to avoid resistance.
