SANTUsom-SR
Description_Effects
SANTUsom-SR is a combination medicine containing Domperidone and Esomeprazole, used in the treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and related acid-peptic conditions. GERD is a chronic digestive disorder where stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe, causing symptoms like heartburn, acidity, indigestion, and acid reflux. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the production of stomach acid, providing relief from acidity, promoting healing of ulcers, and preventing acid-related damage to the esophagus. Domperidone is a prokinetic agent that helps move food through the stomach more quickly, reducing bloating, nausea, and the chance of acid reflux by preventing backward flow of stomach contents. SANTUsom-SR offers dual relief—by addressing both excessive acid production and poor gastric motility. It is best taken once daily, before meals, or as prescribed by a physician. Regular use helps control GERD symptoms and improves quality of life. Common side effects may include headache, dry mouth, abdominal cramps, or mild diarrhea. Long-term use should be monitored, especially in patients with liver issues or those on other medications. Lifestyle modifications—such as avoiding trigger foods, eating smaller meals, weight control, and not lying down soon after eating—can further enhance the effectiveness of this treatment.
